Nurse Coordinator

The liver transplant team also includes ambulatory and inpatient nurse coordinators who work closely with our patients and their families throughout the entire referral, evaluation, transplant and post-transplant process, as well as hepatocellular carcinoma nurse coordinators who work with patients with liver cancer and coordinate their care with the interdisciplinary team.

Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center

The Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center is one of four VA liver transplant centers in the U.S. The team evaluates and coordinates the care of patients with end-stage liver disease. The liver transplant surgery is performed at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center.

  • Transplant Dieticians who provide transplant-specific education and nutritional support to patients and their families pre- and post-transplant.
  • Financial Coordinators who are available to help guide our patients through the insurance process and provide education on the financial aspects of transplant – from evaluation to life after transplant.
  • Outreach Coordinators who assist with transplant education for patients with end-stage renal disease, provide outreach and support for community health care providers, and facilitate ongoing communications between Hume-Lee and referring providers.
